Email Feature not showing up.

Apr 22, 2013 at 6:13 PM
Installed and activated the WSP as SharePoint 2010 SP1 Enterprise Edition with email enabled. I am not sure I understand when you say PUBLISH, I am in Central Administration and I have added, installed, deployed the Solution.
I don't see the Email Attachments as a solution.
I have performed an IISReset and have restarted the server.
Is there a place I can look to see / debug what might be causing me from viewing this Site Feature?
I see Content Organizer and Email Integration with Content Organizer, but sadly no Email Attachments.

After you have deployed the solution, the next step is to activate the feature for the web application.

In central administration, go to manage web applications, select the web application that will use this feature from the list (all web apps can use it, but it has to be activated for each one), Then in the ribbon click manage features. A dialog box will open and in the list of features you should see Send Email With Attachment, click the activate button next to it.

Once it is active open a site in SharePoint designer and add a workflow to a list. In the avaible action for the workflow you should see a new action send email with attachment.

THANK YOU for this! I apologize that I missed the adding the feature to the Web Application! I have done so and I am able to create a workflow, but it wanted me to put in an email address for "this address" and to display "this address" as sender. Is there a way to put in the current user's name / email address?

I also have NOT been able to see under the Site Actions > Manage Site Features, to see the Email Attachments Feature. I have also not been able to see Email Attachment Settings show up, probably part of the Feature.

Thank you again!

No problem!

As far as having it display the current users email address you can get that from the workflow context. I can try to write up a word document with screen shots on what I mean.

On the second question I am not sure what you mean. For the Send Email With Attachment workflow activity there are no site features or settings. All you have to do is activate the web application feature, which you have done.

Now I have the Send Email with Attachment Ribbon Button. This solution adds a button to the ribbon to allow users to send a document out as an attachment and it does have settings and has to be turned on at each site.

THank you AGAIN Matt. I do apologize for having a tough time with this.

This is a graphical representation of what I have done so far.

I have activated the WSP on port 80 as described and shown below.
Image

I go to port 80 Web Application. But I do not see any feature for the site.
Image

I went to a document library and selected an item and did NOT see the item in the Ribbon unfortunately.
Image

I also tried to go to the Library Settings (As Farm Administrator) account and could not see the Email attachment settings.
Image

I do have email enabled as I am able to get the Workflow working, with a bunch of clicks, but it was going to "me" and I am going to have to work on that.

Thank you AGAIN for your help! Matt

No Problem MCarter.

There are two seperate solutions that you are taking about here. The feature you activated in the screen shot is just the Send Email with Attachment Workflow Activity. All that solution does it add the workflow action in SharePoint Designer.

The options that you don't see, actually come from another solution - Send Email with Attachment Ribbon Button. I only have a trail version of that solution available and it can be downloaded at https://sharepointstuff.codeplex.com/releases/view/96399

If you download and install that you will see that options you are talking about, but remember that is only a trail version and limited to 2MB attachment size.

I was able to get the WSP installed, THANK YOU (YET AGAIN!)
Sadly I am running into ANOTHER problem.
I activated the feature.

Don't have the great drop down yet for Send via attachment
Image

Then went to the Document Library
Go to Email attachments settings which shows up!
Image

But then I get Correlation ID immediately!

Are you running SharePoint 2010 Foundation? If you are I know what the issue is.

Microsoft did something weird, it is explained in the blog here http://www.blackbladeinc.com/en-us/community/blogs/archive/2011/07/20/sharepoint-commandaction-%7Blistid%7D-token-doesn%E2%80%99t-get-replaced-in-customaction-ribbon-element.aspx

I have a fix for it, but I am not going to be able to upload to codeplex right now. Can you send me your email address at Matt.j28@hotmail.com and I will send you an updated version.
